A family in Subukia, Nakuru County, is grappling with shock and sorrow after the discovery of their missing son's lifeless body in a forest nearly a month after his disappearance.
Geoffrey Githima, a beloved church keyboardist, was last seen on November 10, and his tragic end has left his community shaken.
Githima, a dedicated member of Baptist White Rock Church in Subukia, had attended a Sunday service before heading home to share lunch with his family.
According to his father, John Muchina, the young man later left the house, claiming he needed to take a walk and get some fresh air.
However, he did not return that evening, leaving his family increasingly worried as hours turned into days.
Efforts to locate him included circulating posters with his photograph and contact details.
Unfortunately, weeks of searching ended in heartbreak when herders stumbled upon his body on December 6 in the Muchungoi Forest, a location bordering Baringo, Nakuru, and Laikipia counties.
Speaking about the devastating moment, Githima’s father revealed that he was contacted by the herders who discovered the body.
"I received a call from one of them informing me of the situation. I immediately traveled from Nairobi to Nakuru after hearing the news," Muchina said.
The family has since involved law enforcement to investigate the circumstances leading to the young man’s untimely demise.
A postmortem is also underway to determine the exact cause of death.
Githima’s church and community members expressed their condolences, remembering him as a talented musician and a kind soul who contributed significantly to church activities.
Online, Kenyans shared messages of support for the grieving family, with many expressing sadness and praying for justice.
