The incident occurred at around 4:00 a.m., involving a Toyota saloon car and a bus traveling in opposite directions.
According to police reports, the Toyota saloon car, carrying four occupants and heading towards Narok, lost control and collided with a bus ferrying 34 passengers towards Bomet.
A female passenger in the saloon car was killed on the spot, while the driver and two other passengers sustained minor injuries. They were rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital for treatment.
Fortunately, none of the passengers aboard the bus were hurt. Police have towed both vehicles to Ololulunga Police Station for further inspection as investigations into the accident continue.
The body of the deceased has been taken to the Narok County Referral Hospital mortuary.
In another separate accident in Mombasa on Friday evening, a woman lost her life, and a man suffered severe injuries when a lorry carrying building blocks lost control at the Likoni Crossing Channel.
The incident, which happened at around 7:15 p.m., claimed the life of a female pedestrian on the spot, while a male pedestrian sustained multiple fractures.
He was rushed to Likoni Sub-County Hospital for treatment. The lorry involved in the crash has been impounded as investigations are underway.
Official statistics reveal that over 4,000 people have died in road accidents across the country this year. Between January and November 2024, 4,282 lives were lost, compared to 3,901 during the same period in 2023.
