Pastor Victor Kanyari has found himself at the center of controversy following allegations by Isaac Otesa, popularly known as Bungoma Goliath.
Otesa accused Kanyari of paying him KSh 8,000 to faint during a dramatic church service, but the pastor has vehemently denied the claims.
Speaking in a video alongside TikTok creator Kawira, Pastor Kanyari dismissed the allegations as a calculated attempt to tarnish his reputation.
“This is a plot designed to ruin my name,” he said, accusing Otesa and others of conspiring against him.
According to Kanyari, Nairobi County’s Chief Environment Officer Geoffrey Mosiria played a significant role in the alleged plan.
“I believe Otesa was coached to say these things to gain attention and fix his image.
He was told, ‘Blame Kanyari, make it dramatic, and you’ll go viral," Kanyari remarked, implying the accusations were part of a larger agenda.
Otesa, for his part, had claimed that Kawira introduced him to Pastor Kanyari with promises of money in exchange for participating in the staged prayer performance.
However, Kawira has come forward to deny these accusations.
She clarified that while she did connect Otesa with Kanyari, the money he received was purely for his living expenses and not for acting in any staged scene.
Kawira also criticized Otesa for tarnishing the pastor’s name despite receiving support from him.
“Why would you accuse someone who helped you?” she questioned, urging Otesa to retract his statements. Mosiria, another key figure named in the allegations, has yet to respond to requests for his side of the story.
The controversy has sparked heated debate on social media, with users expressing mixed reactions.
Some questioned the authenticity of church performances, while others doubted Otesa’s intentions.
“This kind of drama is not new in churches,” remarked one commenter, while another added, “At this rate, it’s hard to know who is telling the truth.”
