In Homa Bay County, police have arrested seven people in connection with the tragic death of a fourth-year student from Tom Mboya University.
The student, whose name has not been disclosed, was found beaten, stripped, and tied up inside a restaurant on Friday, December 21, 2024.
Police officers were alerted about the situation by the Homa Bay County Enforcement Officer, who reported that a student was being tortured at the restaurant.
When the officers arrived, they found the student’s hands and legs tied with ropes, and there were multiple injuries on his head. The sight of the student, bleeding profusely and in severe pain, shocked everyone at the scene.
The police rushed the student to Homa Bay County Referral Hospital for treatment, but, unfortunately, he passed away shortly after arriving due to the extent of his injuries.
After the student's death, police arrested seven workers at the restaurant, whom they suspect may have been involved in the incident.
The officers believe that these individuals could have played a role in the student's beating and torture. The suspects were taken into custody, and investigations are still ongoing.
The student’s body was taken to the hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. The police are working hard to uncover the details surrounding this terrible incident.
This incident has shaken the community, and many people are left asking why such a young life was taken in such a brutal manner.
The police are committed to finding out what happened and ensuring that justice is served for the student and his family.
Sadly, this is not the first time a student has been killed under mysterious circumstances. In September, a 20-year-old female student from the University of Nairobi was found murdered in a thicket in Mwiki, Nairobi.
Her body showed signs of severe injuries, and it is believed that she was lured away from her home before being brutally attacked.
