Rachel Otuoma, the widow of the late Kenyan footballer Ezekiel Otuoma, has openly shared her grief for the first time since her husband’s passing.
Ezekiel died on December 21, the same day Rachel was marking her birthday, a tragedy that has left her devastated.
In a heart-wrenching moment at her home, Rachel spoke to friends and social media personalities who had gathered to offer their support.
Among those who visited Rachel were popular TikTok personalities Baba Talisha and Nicholas Kioko, alongside her close friends.
The group brought gifts and comforted her during this difficult time.
They also discussed the funds donated by well-wishers to ensure Ezekiel is given a dignified burial.
Despite the ongoing support, Rachel couldn’t hide the pain of losing her beloved husband.
In a tearful conversation, Rachel expressed just how hard it has been to adjust to life without Ezekiel.
“Sio rahisi, mniombee na mzidi kuniombea,” she said, her voice breaking. “I had already grown used to him.”
She went on to share the emotional difficulty of accepting his absence, describing moments when she still believes he is calling her from the other room.
“I went to the morgue to see him, and it felt like he’s just sleeping, looking so peaceful,” Rachel continued.
“But it’s God’s plan.” The sorrow in her words was evident as she struggled to come to terms with the loss.
Despite the overwhelming pain, Rachel expressed gratitude for the support she has received and focused on ensuring Ezekiel is laid to rest peacefully.
“The most important thing is for Otuoma to be laid to rest peacefully, without any complications or drama,” she added.
Rachel’s emotional announcement of Ezekiel’s death on social media moved many Kenyans.
Ezekiel had been battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a degenerative disease that had taken a toll on his health in recent years.
Rachel’s vulnerability in sharing her grief with the public has resonated deeply with her followers, with many offering words of comfort and support.
“Please keep praying for us,” she urged, as her journey of mourning continues.
