Sniper’s family had initially set December 13, 2024, as the burial date, a year after his abduction and murder.
When that date passed, they rescheduled it for December 27. However, a new challenge involving a land dispute has halted their plans once again.
“This is heartbreaking for us,” a family member said. “We want to give Sniper a dignified send-off, but we are now faced with new obstacles we didn’t foresee.”
According to reports, the family had sold part of their land, including the area they intended to use as the burial site.
The title deed is now in the buyer’s possession, leaving the family without a place to bury their loved one.
“This issue of land has caught us off guard,” said a relative who spoke anonymously.
“We thought financial difficulties were our only problem, but now we realize it’s more complicated.”
Sniper’s widow, Irene, was contacted about the matter but declined to comment.
However, those close to the family confirmed that the land dispute is the main reason for the indefinite postponement.
Justice for Sniper remains a priority for the family and the Meru community.
Five suspects have been charged in connection with his murder, but calls for the arrest of the masterminds behind the crime persist.
“We will not rest until the real culprits are brought to justice,” said a local leader.
“Sniper’s death was a blow to this community, and we cannot allow such acts to go unpunished.”
A post-mortem examination by government pathologist Johansen Oduor revealed the chilling details of Sniper’s death.
“He was strangled to death,” Oduor explained. “There were marks on his neck, fractured ribs, and signs of oxygen deprivation. The evidence suggests a violent struggle.”
Despite the delays, the family is determined to honor Sniper’s memory.
“This is not just about burying him; it’s about justice and closure,” said a family spokesperson. “We urge the public to stand with us during this difficult time.”
