Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, wife of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, recently apologized for some promises made by the Kenya Kwanza government.
Speaking at a church gathering, she admitted that the government had raised expectations during the campaign period but has faced challenges in meeting them.
"We apologize because we preached how the Kenya Kwanza government will not destroy but build," Pastor Dorcas said to the congregation.
Her statement came as an acknowledgment of the frustrations many Kenyans are experiencing due to the rising cost of living and economic struggles.
Pastor Dorcas expressed her understanding of the public's disappointment, especially for those who believed the government would quickly address their problems.
However, she urged Kenyans to remain patient, emphasizing that true change takes time and effort.
While addressing the audience, Pastor Dorcas reassured Kenyans that the leadership is aware of their struggles.
"We know that families are hurting, and many people are feeling hopeless.
But I want to assure you, this government is working hard to fix the challenges we inherited," she said.
She also called for forgiveness, urging the public to give leaders more time to deliver on their promises.
"We are human, and we do make mistakes. But our intentions remain pure to uplift the lives of every Kenyan," Pastor Dorcas emphasized.
Pastor Dorcas’s apology has sparked a wide range of reactions.
While some people appreciated her honesty, others expressed doubt about the government’s commitment to solving pressing issues.
Jane Wanjiru, a businesswoman in Nairobi, said, "At least she recognizes our struggles, but apologies are not enough. We need action, not words."
On social media, others echoed similar sentiments, calling on the government to focus on reducing food prices, creating jobs, and fighting corruption.
Critics argued that the administration seems disconnected from the reality on the ground.
Despite the criticism, Pastor Dorcas urged Kenyans to remain united and hopeful.
"This is not the time to give up. Pray for us as we work to make this country better," she pleaded.
