A heartbreaking and tragic incident has rocked Musasa village in Nandi County, where a man, Juma Hannis Shimano, allegedly killed his wife, Winnie Akhalusa, before taking his own life.
The devastating event occurred on January 16, 2025, leaving the community in shock and disbelief.
Investigators uncovered a chilling handwritten note at the crime scene, which revealed that Juma had planned the murder in advance.
The note detailed the items needed for the attack, the strategy to carry it out, and a plan to cover up the crime. This discovery confirmed that the act was premeditated and not a sudden outburst of anger.
Days before the tragedy, Juma had posted a cryptic message on Facebook, sharing a photo of himself and Winnie.
The image showed the couple gazing into each other’s eyes, but the caption was unsettling. Juma wrote,
“Stop asking me about my wife. Here she is; I have revealed her and am not scared of losing her. Respect the OGs.”
On the fateful day, tensions between the couple escalated into a violent altercation. According to witnesses, the situation grew out of control quickly.
Winnie’s father, who was at home at the time, recalled finding his daughter badly injured after being stabbed in the neck and back. She managed to tell him with her last words that Juma had killed her before she died.
The tragic incident has left their children orphaned and the community in mourning. Local residents are struggling to come to terms with the brutal loss, as Juma and Winnie were once seen as a loving couple.
Authorities are continuing their investigation to understand the full details of what led to this senseless act of violence.
