Former Kieni MP Kanini Kega is celebrating his son’s excellent performance in the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Imani Mathenge, a student at Strathmore School, achieved an impressive A- in the national exams, making his father proud.
Kanini Kega shared his joy on social media, praising his son’s hard work and dedication.
“An A- to Imani Mathenge. Congratulations, my son, I am so proud of you!” he wrote.
The father-son bond has been evident over the years, with the former MP often sharing milestones in Imani’s academic journey.
A detailed look at Imani’s scorecard reveals strong results across various subjects.
He scored A plain in English, Kiswahili, and Computer Studies, A- in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Biology, and a B+ in Physics.
This stellar performance highlights four years of consistent effort and discipline at Strathmore School, one of Kenya’s leading academic institutions.
In 2020, Imani scored 408 marks in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), setting the foundation for his high school success.
Kanini Kega expressed similar pride back then, sharing pictures of his son joining Form One and expressing hope for his future.
The 2024 KCSE examinations were significant, with 962,512 candidates sitting for the exams.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba reported that 1,693 students achieved straight As, while over 200,000 candidates earned grades of C+ and above, qualifying them for direct university entry.
The improved results have been attributed to a new grading system introduced to promote fairness and recognize diverse academic strengths.
Candidates were encouraged to access their results online or through mobile services provided by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC).
The Ministry of Education has also introduced a mid-year KCSE series to offer candidates additional opportunities to excel.
Imani’s performance has attracted praise from Kenyans, with many lauding his hard work and academic excellence.
Messages flooded social media, including congratulatory remarks like “Well done, young man,” and “Congratulations to Imani Mathenge, keep soaring.”
Kanini Kega’s joy reflects the pride of many Kenyan parents during this period of academic achievement.
