Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has called on Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to provide concrete evidence for his recent claims about President William Ruto’s alleged plan to rig the 2027 general elections using "alien" voters.
Speaking at the 14th graduation ceremony at Almustaqbal University in Garissa on January 25, 2025, Duale dismissed Kalonzo’s accusations as "baseless" and "misleading."
In his address to the crowd, Duale clarified that the responsibility for electing leaders lies with the people of Kenya, not the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), which is tasked only with overseeing the process.
He emphasized, “I want to tell Kalonzo that IEBC does not vote, it is Kenyans who vote.”
Duale, who has been in politics for many years, reminded Kalonzo of his past presidential runs and years as a running mate in the previous elections, urging him to stop making baseless claims about a supposed plot to tamper with the elections.
“I was an MP when you first vied for the presidency, and I was also with you when you failed to side with either Raila or Kibaki in 2007.
From 2013 to 2022, you were a running mate,” Duale said, adding that it was time for Kalonzo to be clear on who these “aliens” were that Ruto supposedly wanted to register as voters.
Duale’s remarks also extended to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, with whom he shared cabinet experience.
Duale accused Gachagua of incompetence and tribal politics, claiming that his dismissal from government was due to his divisive behavior.
“We dismissed him because he was very tribal and incompetent,” Duale explained.
He also noted that Gachagua’s failure to align with President Ruto’s vision for a united Kenya led to their fallout.
“Kenya will be one, and all tribes and religions will be one. We will build one country called Kenya,” Duale added.
These comments come after Kalonzo Musyoka’s press conference on January 22, 2025, where he alleged that President Ruto’s administration was planning to use foreigners to manipulate the 2027 elections.
