A missing 14-year-old student from AIC Kessup Girls High School in Eldoret has left her family in distress.
Beryl Chemtai, a Form Two student, was last seen on Saturday, January 11, 2025, as she left her relative’s home in Maili Nne to head to school.
She was wearing a blue skirt and a white top at the time.
According to Beryl's father, Gilbert Chepkwony, he had informed her teacher before her departure that his daughter was on her way to school.
However, as the weekend was just beginning, the teacher, who was not on the school premises, promised to check on Beryl once she resumed work.
On Sunday, Gilbert did not call, thinking the weekend break had caused a delay.
However, when he reached out again on Monday morning, he was told by the teacher that Beryl was at school, sitting for an exam.
The teacher later discovered that the student who had been mistaken for Beryl was actually in Form Three.
The realization that Beryl had never arrived at school left her family deeply concerned.
Despite searching the school premises and reporting the matter to the police, there has been no sign of the missing teenager.
Gilbert, alongside the school administration, has continued to work with authorities to locate his daughter.
They are urging anyone who may have seen her or knows her whereabouts to come forward.
In an appeal, Gilbert urged the public to assist in any way they can.
"We are calling on anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or reach out to us directly," he said.
The family is desperately waiting for answers, with no leads yet on Beryl's disappearance.
The case of Beryl Chemtai’s disappearance follows a similar incident in Nakuru, where a missing student, Patience Simiyu, was found after a public appeal.
The authorities are hopeful that the same outcome will be achieved for Beryl.
Anyone with information can contact Gilbert Chepkwony at 0735670367 or 0723816769. The search continues, and the family is praying for her safe return.
