At 28 years old, Susan Nanjira is on an emotional journey to reconnect with a father she has never truly known.
Despite the years of separation, she is determined to find him.
"I don’t know my dad’s name. I have nothing of him other than empty memories.
I don’t know where he is, but I am looking for him," Susan shared, revealing the emotional pain she carries.
Nanjira, a graduate teacher currently searching for a job, grew up in an unstable environment after her parents separated when she was only four years old.
Her mother, Joan Achungo Roselyn, passed away in 1999, and since then, Nanjira has lived without a father figure.
"After my mother passed away, I’ve not been close to my father’s family. I moved around with my mother’s relatives from town to town, and from school to school," she explained.
As a child, Susan’s mother lived in Mumias Elukoye, while her father stayed in Bukas, an area known as "Uwanja wa Ndege" in Mumias.
Though her parents were in a relationship, it wasn’t a traditional family structure, and Susan never developed a close bond with her father.
"My parents lived together like a boyfriend and girlfriend, but I don’t know much about my father.
He might not remember my name, but I believe he knows my mother’s name," Susan reflected.
Now, as an adult, Susan is still holding on to the hope of finding her father.
She shared a heartfelt message to him: "Dad, if you don’t remember me, here are a few people who will remind you about me: Joseph Tsumah and Daniel Tsumah, my uncles and cousins on my mother’s side.
I’ve traveled many places looking for you, and now I’m in Nairobi. I’m still your little girl, and I love you so much. I would really want to meet you. May the Lord keep you safe for me."
