Carol Kim, the second wife of Kenyan musician Karangu Muraya, has responded to the public’s curiosity and concerns about her first marriage.
The controversy began when social media users discovered photos of Carol's wedding to her former husband and started tagging her along with Wanja Nyarari, the lady who chauffeured them on their big day.
As the discussions heated up online, both Carol and Wanja decided to address the matter openly.
Carol, who is now married to Karangu, stated, “A lot has been said about me, and they’ve even sent me old wedding pictures.
But they don’t have the facts.” She was quick to clarify that it was her decision to file for divorce. “Yes, I’m the one who filed for the divorce. It’s done and dusted!” she added.
According to Carol, many people were unaware of the circumstances surrounding her previous marriage, but she confirmed that those closest to her, including Wanja, knew the full story.
The timeline of Carol's first marriage shows that she got married in June 2018.
However, by 2019, things were no longer working out. “In 2019, I told my husband that this marriage can’t work, and we separated,” she explained.
Carol further revealed that she lived with Wanja during the COVID-19 period in 2020 and had no plans of returning to Dubai, where she had lived previously.
In December 2021, Carol decided to take legal action, filing for divorce, which was finalized in January 2022.
Under Kikuyu customary law, the dowry was returned in April 2024, as there were no children involved in the marriage.
Wanja Nyarari, who was frequently tagged in the wedding photos circulating online, took the opportunity to set the record straight.
She explained that Carol’s first husband had moved on and remarried shortly after their separation.
“Carol’s ex-husband moved on immediately. There’s no issue with Carol being Karangu’s second wife,” Wanja added.
Despite the online drama, Carol and Karangu’s relationship appears strong.
Karangu recently shared moments of joy with his two wives, revealing that he would continue to support both women.
