Kevin Bahati, the popular Kenyan musician, recently took his children on an emotional trip to his village in Makueni County.
During their visit, Bahati showed his firstborn daughter, Mueni, where her grandmother, after whom she is named, was buried.
The moment was both emotional and heartwarming, as it allowed Bahati to share important family memories with his children.
While standing at the gravesite of his mother, who passed away when he was just a young boy, Bahati explained to Mueni, "So you see, Mueni, this is where your grandma was buried.
She died when I was a little boy. I did not have money to buy her a coffin.
The villagers helped me bury her." His words reflected the hardship he experienced growing up and the love he has for his late mother.
Mueni, who was listening carefully to her father, then offered a thoughtful suggestion.
In an innocent yet mature way, she said, "We should call those people who customize graves to put some glass, and then they write her name, when she was born and when she died."
Her request, filled with care and attention, caught Bahati off guard. He was touched by her wisdom and concern for her late grandmother’s resting place.
The trip also included a visit to the grave of Bahati’s brother, Kyalo, who passed away after a long illness.
"This is where my brother Kyalo was buried. He died after being ill for a while," Bahati shared with his children, reflecting on another painful loss in his life.
Mueni’s question about revamping her grandma’s grave struck a chord with many Kenyans on social media.
Users praised her for being bright and thoughtful beyond her years.
"Mueni is so bright," one user commented, while another said, "Mueni inherited her grandmother’s spirit very bright and intelligent."
In the midst of this emotional family moment, Bahati was reminded of the importance of family, memory, and the thoughtful nature of his daughter.
Mueni’s simple but meaningful request to make her grandmother’s grave more beautiful revealed not just her caring nature but also the deep connection she feels to her late relatives.
