Former Kenyan footballer Ezekiel Otuoma was laid to rest on Saturday, January 11, 2025, in a moving ceremony held in Ramula, Siaya County.
The funeral, which drew a large crowd of mourners, reflected the deep impact Otuoma had on the community.
Emotions ran high as his family and friends gathered to bid their final goodbyes.
Among the notable attendees was Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok, who conveyed condolences from political leaders such as Raila Odinga.
In a heartfelt gesture, Imwatok pledged to take care of Otuoma's daughter, Kimberly Adhiambo’s education, promising to pay her school fees until she completes high school.
Kimberly, who is currently in Form Two, was also given KSh 20,000 by Imwatok for pocket money.
The promise was met with cheers and appreciation from the mourners, who acknowledged the importance of supporting Otuoma's family during this difficult time.
The ceremony saw the footballer's casket transported to the burial site on the back of a pickup truck.
The mourners, many of whom wore football jerseys, lined the vehicle, paying tribute to Otuoma's passion for the sport.
Security was tight, with armed police officers ensuring the smooth running of the event.
As the casket was lowered into the grave, Racheal, Otuoma’s wife, was visibly overcome with emotion, with her sister and other family members offering support.
