Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has finally addressed rumors suggesting a rift between him and President William Ruto.
After weeks of silence and being absent from public events, Kindiki set the record straight during a wedding ceremony on January 4, 2025, in Tigoni, Kiambu County.
“I have been away on holiday,” Kindiki explained to the gathered guests.
“My absence has nothing to do with any disagreement with President Ruto. I’m just enjoying the last few hours of my break.”
Rumors had been swirling about a possible fallout between the two leaders after Kindiki was noticeably absent from several high-profile events, including the burial of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula’s mother.
His silence fueled speculation, with some questioning his relationship with the president.
Kindiki, however, urged Kenyans to avoid getting caught up in gossip. “Forget all these rumors.
It’s just noise. My focus is on supporting President Ruto and the government’s agenda for the people of Kenya,” he said.
The Deputy President also stressed the importance of staying focused on bigger issues. “Let’s not get distracted by small things.
We have a bigger mission ahead of us this year. I feel re-energized after my break, and I’m ready to work closely with the president to take Kenya forward.”
Kindiki’s comments came as a relief to many, with digital communication strategists close to the Deputy President working to calm fears about his absence.
It’s not the first time such rumors have emerged. Back in May 2022, similar concerns were raised when Kindiki’s predecessor, William Ruto, faced questions about his relationship with then-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Kindiki’s presence at the wedding, where he was a chief guest, alongside senior government officials, marks his return to the public scene, ready to resume his duties and collaborate with President Ruto to steer Kenya towards progress.
