The family of Ian Sing’oe, a 26-year-old mechanical engineering graduate, has been left devastated by his untimely death.
Ian went missing on December 31, 2024, and was later found dead on January 4, 2025, in Mwiki, Kasarani.
His death has since raised questions, but in an emotional funeral service, his father, Ian Korir, extended an extraordinary act of forgiveness, offering his prayers for those responsible if foul play was involved.
Ian’s father, speaking with deep grief, described his son as a gentle and intelligent individual.
He shared how much he had hoped for a bright future for Ian, who had recently completed his studies.
"This was a yes boy, courageous, and academically bright. He could not hurt anyone," Ian Korir said, recounting the good words his son’s friends had for him.
The father emphasized that Ian never lacked anything, as he had been given the best upbringing and education.
Despite the pain of losing his son, Ian Korir found it in his heart to forgive whoever may have played a role in his death.
"If this boy was killed by someone's hand, then as a family we forgive him.
I pray that God forgives him too so that his child doesn’t experience what we have gone through," he said tearfully.
The family also shared how they eventually found Ian’s body with the help of pastors.
His mother, Pauline Chemutai, revealed that the pastors had prayed for guidance, which led them to the waterlogged area where Ian's body was discovered.
"Pastor Allan told us to search in a place with vegetation and water, and that's where we found him," Pauline explained.
In addition to the family's pain, Ian's death has sparked debate and criticism from some Kenyans, particularly concerning the Ministry of Interior’s public condolence message.
Many questioned the official response to the tragedy, as the circumstances surrounding Ian’s death remain unclear.
Despite the uncertainty, the Sing’oe family’s display of forgiveness and faith has resonated with many, offering a powerful example of resilience in the face of hardship.
