Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has informed the public about scheduled power outages on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, to carry out important system maintenance.
This planned blackout will affect several areas across three counties, and the power interruptions are expected to last for at least eight hours.
KPLC has urged customers in these regions to prepare ahead of time to avoid any inconveniences during the power cuts.
In Nakuru County, areas like Molo, Olenguruon, and nearby towns will experience blackouts from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Some of the affected areas include Molo Town, Olenguruone, Keringet Town, and Kitagich Tea Factory.
If you live in these places, KPLC suggests that you plan your day carefully, especially if you rely on electricity for work or other activities.
In Nandi County, residents of Kabiyet, Kapchumo, and Kamasia will face power outages from 8:15 AM to 5:30 PM. Locations like Kabiyet, Kapchumo, and Chepnoet will be directly impacted.
The energy provider has reminded everyone in these areas that the outages are necessary for routine network upgrades.
If you live here, consider charging your devices in advance and making other necessary preparations for the day.
Lastly, Kisii County will also be affected, with areas like Emenwa, Igare, and Kigamere facing blackouts from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Important places such as Emenwa Market, Nyamagwa Boys, and Matierio Secondary School will lose power.
KPLC has emphasized the importance of these outages for maintenance work, ensuring that the power supply will be more reliable in the future.
KPLC has explained that such maintenance is necessary to ensure better service in the long run. However, they also understand that power interruptions can be inconvenient.
For this reason, they have encouraged customers to make the necessary adjustments and plan their activities around these power cuts.
To avoid problems, residents in the affected areas should be ready. They can consider using backup power sources or adjusting their schedules to ensure they don't face major disruptions.
The planned outages are part of KPLC's efforts to improve the country's energy system, which will ultimately benefit everyone by providing more reliable power in the future.
KPLC promises to restore power promptly once the scheduled work is completed. So, mark your calendars and be prepared for a day without electricity in the affected areas on January 8, 2025.
