The new appointees include Mutahi Kagwe, who will serve as the Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Lee Kinyanjui, appointed as the CS for Trade and Industry, and William Kabogo, who will now head the Ministry of ICT.
The President expressed confidence that the newly appointed leaders will play a crucial role in advancing the government’s agenda.
He highlighted their extensive experience and strong leadership qualities, which he believes will be vital in achieving the country’s transformation.
In a post on his official Facebook page, President Ruto wrote,
"Coupled with their solid leadership skills and capabilities, we are confident that they will steer our country’s transformation while advancing our Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda."
During the swearing-in ceremony, President Ruto also took the opportunity to remind the new Cabinet Secretaries about the importance of communication with the public.
He emphasized that while it is important to be firm and decisive in executing their responsibilities, it is equally necessary to listen to the concerns of Kenyans.
The President encouraged the CSs to engage with patience and empathy, ensuring that citizens are well-informed about government policies and initiatives.
"While we must be firm and decisive in executing our mandate, it is crucial that we also listen, explain, and engage with the people," Ruto said.
The President further underscored the need for the Cabinet Secretaries to manage public expectations effectively.
He reminded them that addressing citizens' concerns and ensuring they understand the government’s objectives is an essential part of their roles.
In addition to communication, Ruto stressed the importance of financial discipline. He pointed out that, given the current economic challenges, it is essential to manage public resources efficiently.
The President also reiterated his administration's firm stance on corruption, urging the new leaders to uphold high standards of accountability in handling government funds.
With these new appointments, President Ruto is confident that the country’s leadership will continue to drive progress and development while ensuring effective service delivery to all Kenyans.
