On January 25, 2025, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua called on Kenya's young generation, especially those in Gen Z, to take the crucial step of registering as voters.
Speaking during a visit to Kirinyaga, Gachagua praised the efforts of young people in raising civic awareness through social media but emphasized that these efforts alone will not bring the change Kenya needs.
"You are doing great work on social media, but that is not enough," Gachagua said.
"The real change for this country will come when you go to the ballot box."
He highlighted that the transformation of Kenya into a country with strong leadership depends on the actions of citizens at the polls.
Gachagua urged young people to make sure they have IDs and are registered as voters, saying, "It is your patriotic duty to ensure you are registered."
His message to the youth was clear: by voting, they will play a key role in choosing leaders who can guide the country toward a better future.
"If you register and vote, you will have completed the journey for all of us. The future of Kenya is in your hands," he added.
Gachagua was in Kirinyaga to meet with Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua.
The two leaders discussed their plans to work together, with Gachagua expressing his admiration for Karua's extensive political experience.
"We have had a great conversation, and I am happy to unite with her. Her wisdom and courage will help us move the Mt. Kenya region forward," Gachagua stated.
Karua, in turn, expressed confidence in the potential of their collaboration.
"Today is a great day. We have joined hands with my brother Gachagua, and this is the beginning of a journey to unite and liberate Kenya," she said.
Both leaders pledged to work with other like-minded Kenyans to bring about the change they envision.
Their partnership marks a significant step forward in the political landscape, with both leaders committed to promoting leadership that is accountable and focused on the nation's welfare.
As Gachagua put it, "We will consult with people who care for this country, and together, we will liberate Kenya."
