A tragic road accident occurred on the night of Friday, January 10, 2025, along the Kapsabet-Eldoret Road at Mutwot area, leaving four people dead.
The crash involved a private vehicle and a school bus. Among the victims was a young girl, aged 4.5 years old, who was traveling in the private vehicle.
The incident happened around 8:00 PM when a Toyota Hiace, traveling from Kapsabet to Eldoret, lost control.
The driver of the vehicle swerved into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with a school bus on its way to Kapsabet.
The bus, registered under the name of Cheptabach Secondary School, was an Isuzu with the registration number KDA 911Y.
According to police reports, the four people who lost their lives in the crash were the male driver of the private vehicle, two adult male passengers, and the young girl.
They died on the spot from the impact of the collision.
The authorities stated that several other passengers from both vehicles were injured and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Following the crash, the bodies of the deceased were taken to the Samaritan Funeral Home in Kapsabet for identification and post-mortem examination.
The wreckage of both vehicles was also transported to Mosoriot Police Station for further inspection and investigation into the cause of the accident.
The authorities are still looking into the exact circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether speed, road conditions, or other factors played a role in the driver losing control of the vehicle.
The incident has drawn attention to the importance of road safety, especially in areas with heavy traffic.
