Celebrated radio presenter Shatta Bway took to social media to honor his son Jahim on his 14th birthday, sharing heartfelt memories of his early fatherhood journey.
In a touching post, he reflected on the life-changing experience of becoming a father at just 18 years old.
“Son, do you realize that when I became your dad, I was only four years older than you are now?” Shatta began.
He explained how his new role came with immense responsibility, leading him to adopt the name “Baba Jahim” as a symbol of his commitment to his son.
“For an 18-year-old, life felt overwhelming, but you gave it meaning,” he shared.
“The pride I felt when you first called me Dad is the same pride I feel today.”
Shatta went on to express how fatherhood shaped him into the man he is today, giving him a purpose that has never wavered.
His bond with Jahim has been a source of strength, even in the face of tragedy. Shatta lost his wife, Rebecca Kukuton, in 2023, leaving him to raise their children as a single parent.
“I know Mum is watching over you from Heaven,” Shatta wrote, using a special term of endearment, Ltesekwa, to show the deep connection between Jahim and his late mother.
“She must be so proud of the young man you are becoming.”
Despite the loss, Shatta remains dedicated to being a role model for Jahim, drawing inspiration from the proverb, “iron sharpens iron.”
He promised to continue guiding his son into becoming a responsible and honorable individual.
The touching post drew an outpouring of love and support from fans and friends, who flooded the comments with birthday wishes for Jahim.
Shatta also shared a poignant memory of honoring his late wife during her funeral.
To pay tribute, he shaved one of his signature dreadlocks and placed it on her casket, symbolizing their enduring love.
“Rebecca always questioned why I grew these dreads,” he said. “But it was only right for her to carry this part of me with her.”
