A deadly accident occurred in Embu on Sunday, January 12, 2025, when a Probox vehicle crashed into a roadside workshop and caught fire, claiming the lives of three people.
The incident happened along the Mutunduri-Kiajokima Road, where the vehicle veered off the road and collided with the workshop.
The impact sparked a huge fire that quickly consumed the vehicle and spread to nearby buildings.
Eyewitnesses reported that the victims, who were the only passengers in the car, died instantly as the fire engulfed the vehicle.
Their bodies were burnt beyond recognition, and emergency teams struggled to control the flames. The fire also spread to the workshop, causing further destruction to nearby structures.
Rescue workers and police arrived at the scene shortly after the crash.
They immediately began searching through the debris to ensure no one else was trapped.
Local residents also attempted to put out the fire, but the intensity of the flames made it difficult to do so without professional help.
Thankfully, emergency services arrived quickly to prevent the fire from spreading further.
This accident adds to a series of recent road tragedies in Kenya. Just the day before, on Saturday, January 11, 2025, another deadly crash occurred along the Londiani-Muhoroni road.
A bus lost control and overturned, killing three people and injuring dozens of others.
Additionally, a separate crash on the Kapsabet-Eldoret Road involved a matatu colliding with a school bus, resulting in four fatalities and several injuries.
The frequent occurrence of such accidents in Kenya has raised concerns about road safety.
