Kenyans will soon be able to file police reports directly from their mobile phones, as announced by Inspector General of Police Japhet Kanja.
Speaking to the media, Kanja explained that this initiative is designed to make it easier for people to report crimes or emergencies without having to visit a police station in person.
"You will soon be able to file reports to the police through your phones," Kanja said.
He added that this system will allow citizens to quickly and conveniently report any incidents, whether they are in urban or rural areas.
The move is aimed at improving access to police services, especially for those who live far from police stations.
According to Kanja, this step is part of the government's broader effort to modernize the police force and make law enforcement more efficient.
By using mobile phones, people can send reports instantly, which will help the police respond more quickly to emergencies.
This system also aims to reduce the chances of corruption, as it will be easier for officers to track and respond to reports.
"We are working hard to ensure that this new system works for all Kenyans," Kanja said. "It will make the process faster and more efficient.
Instead of physically going to a station, people can now use their phones to report any issue they face."
The new service is expected to make life easier for those in remote areas, where access to police stations can be difficult.
Kanja mentioned that the rollout of the system will begin in urban areas before expanding to more rural parts of the country.
The Inspector General also urged Kenyans to embrace the new technology and use it responsibly.
He emphasized that this innovation would help build stronger relationships between the police and the public, as it would provide a more direct line of communication.
This step towards digital policing marks an important milestone in modernizing Kenya's law enforcement services.
With the new mobile reporting system, the police will be able to act faster, making Kenya a safer place for everyone.
