Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has expressed disappointment after a scheduled interview on Spice FM was abruptly canceled.
Duale, who took to social media to address the issue, accused Standard Media Group of making the decision without giving him a reason.
"My sincere apologies to the listeners of Spice FM. The station's owners have abruptly canceled my interview for reasons best known to them," Duale wrote.
He added, "This move speaks volumes, and now you can clearly see the pattern behind the Standard Newspaper's recent headlines."
According to Duale, this cancellation reflects biased media coverage by the media house.
He pointed out that just a day earlier, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was given a platform on KTN News, which is owned by the same media group.
On Monday, February 24, Gachagua was interviewed on KTN News, where he made serious allegations against President William Ruto.
He claimed that Ruto was involved in business dealings with Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, also known as Hemedti, a leader of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Gachagua alleged that these dealings included smuggling gold from Sudan into Kenya for export to Dubai.
He further suggested that the President was prioritizing personal business over the country’s national interests.
He recalled a past incident where he was asked to introduce Hemedti to Ruto at State House.
However, he claimed that after making the introduction, he was told to leave the meeting.
“I did invite Hemedti, welcomed him, and delivered him to the President. There was nothing about Kenya, they were discussing business about gold and other things.
I introduced him and I was told to leave because it had nothing to do with Kenya.
If it had anything to do with the country, I would have sat in that meeting,” Gachagua said.
He further stated that after the meeting, he escorted Hemedti to the airport and later learned that the discussions were centered on gold transactions.
Duale’s frustration with Standard Media Group stems from what he sees as selective reporting.
He believes that by canceling his interview while airing Gachagua’s accusations, the media house is promoting a biased agenda.
"This is not just about me; it is about fair media coverage.
Kenyans deserve balanced reporting, not selective narratives that serve certain interests," Duale emphasized.
