George Wajackoyah, a well-known lawyer and former presidential candidate, has raised concerns about the leadership of former Defence Cabinet Secretary (CS) Aden Duale.
According to Wajackoyah, Duale should explain certain issues related to his time at the Ministry of Defence.
He specifically mentioned the inquiry into the late Chief of Defence Forces, General Francis Ogolla.
Wajackoyah did not give exact details about the allegations but insisted that Duale had questions to answer.
"Aden Duale must speak on what happened in the Ministry of Defence.
There are issues that Kenyans need to know, including the inquiry into the late General Ogolla," he said.
General Francis Ogolla was Kenya's Chief of Defence Forces from April 2023 until his sudden death in April 2024.
He died in a military helicopter crash in Elgeyo Marakwet County alongside nine other military officers.
The tragic accident shocked the country, and President William Ruto led the nation in mourning the fallen general.
During Ogolla’s burial, Aden Duale defended him against criticism over his presence at the Bomas of Kenya during the 2022 elections.
Duale stated that Ogolla was ordered to be there by senior officials in the National Security Council.
"General Ogolla was carrying out his duty as a soldier. He was sent there, and he followed orders as required by the military," Duale said.
Wajackoyah now wants a deeper investigation into what happened during Duale’s leadership at the Ministry of Defence.
His remarks suggest that more information should be made public about the events surrounding General Ogolla's tenure and untimely death.
However, he did not provide evidence to support his claims.
Many Kenyans are now wondering whether the government will respond to Wajackoyah’s concerns.
Some believe that if there are serious questions, an official inquiry should be conducted. Others see Wajackoyah’s statement as political talk with no clear facts.
