A shocking incident in Tanzania has left parents and students in fear after two pupils were kidnapped from their school bus.
Jonathan Kambala, a pupil at Blessing Model Primary School, narrated how a stranger tricked the driver and later abducted two children in broad daylight.
Kambala recalled that the incident happened on a Monday afternoon as they were heading home from school.
A man standing by the roadside asked the driver for a lift, and the driver, thinking he was just a regular traveler, agreed.
“The driver told the matron to open the door for him,” Kambala explained in an interview with Ayo TV.
However, things quickly turned dangerous. As the bus neared Kamanga, the man suddenly pulled out a knife and attacked the driver.
He then grabbed two children and dragged them out of the bus, leaving the other pupils terrified and confused.
Kambala further stated that two motorcycles arrived at the scene shortly after the abduction.
The kidnappers forced the two pupils onto one motorbike while the other carried the armed stranger. Within moments, they sped off, disappearing before anyone could react.
The sudden attack left the remaining children in shock, unable to believe what had just happened.
Following the incident, Mwanza regional police launched an immediate search operation.
According to regional police commander Wilbroad Mutafungwa, officers tracked the children to a house in Nyabulogoya Estate.
“We found the children locked inside house number eight,” Mutafungwa confirmed.
Fortunately, the pupils were rescued safely, though they were taken to the hospital for medical check-ups.
The rescue mission, however, turned violent when police confronted the suspects at the scene. Armed with machetes and other weapons, the criminals attacked the officers, forcing them to respond with gunfire.
The two suspects were fatally shot during the confrontation.
Mutafungwa assured the public that investigations would continue to identify anyone else involved in the kidnapping. “All individuals connected to this crime will be brought to justice,” he stated.
