Tanzanian music star Diamond Platnumz has officially announced that singer Mbosso is leaving Wasafi WCB record label.
This confirmation comes after months of speculation about Mbosso’s future with the label.
Speaking on his Instagram stories, Diamond said they had held discussions with Mbosso to ensure a smooth transition.
“We have had productive discussions with Mbosso on how he will officially manage his work independently. Everything has been settled amicably,” he said.
Diamond also asked fans to ignore rumors, adding that he and Mbosso would soon release a joint statement.
“Let’s not believe everything we hear. The truth is, Mbosso is leaving with our full support, and we will make an official statement together,” he added.
Baba Levo, a close associate of Diamond, shared that Mbosso’s exit was peaceful and that he did not have to pay anything to leave.
“Out of the great respect that Mbosso has for Diamond and the leaders of Wasafi Records, Diamond has opened the doors for him to go out and explore as an independent artist,” he explained.
Mbosso, known for hits like Hodari and Baikoko, had earlier expressed his wish to leave on good terms. He wanted to ensure there was no bad blood between him and Wasafi.
The news of Mbosso’s departure has sparked different reactions among fans.
Some believe this is the right time for him to grow, while others think he should have left earlier.
One fan commented, “He should have done this yesterday!
He will grow only if he takes that bold move.” Another said, “Finally, he has taken a step in the right direction. Wishing him success.”
Meanwhile, another Wasafi artist, Zuchu, has been in a dispute with Diamond’s radio station, Wasafi FM.
She has accused the station of constantly mocking her and making her appear desperate to marry Diamond.
Zuchu admitted that Wasafi had invested in her career, but she questioned whether that support was being used against her.
“I have worked hard, but I feel like my name is being tarnished unfairly,” she said.
