Reggae fans and friends of MC Jah Watchman gathered for a candlelight vigil in honor of his late wife, Elsie Njeru, who died in a tragic road accident near Nyayo Stadium.
The emotional event took place at Quiver Kilimani Club, where many people came to support the grieving family.
Elsie lost her life on Friday, February 21, 2025, after a speeding car rammed into a staff van she was traveling in.
Reports indicate that the driver of the VW Golf GTI, suspected to be drunk, crashed into the vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Sadly, Elsie died on the spot, leaving behind her husband and their two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Eliana Zawadi.
Elsie Njeru was a loving wife and mother who had been with MC Jah Watchman for six years.
She worked hard to provide for her family and was known for her joyful and friendly personality.
Her sudden passing has left a deep void in the lives of those who knew her.
Jah Watchman, a well-known reggae hype man, expressed his deep sorrow in a touching tribute. "Keep on smiling, my friend... thanks a lot for baby Eliana Zawadi.
She is truly a gift," he wrote. Many of his fans and fellow entertainers offered their condolences, with some sharing memories of Elsie’s warmth and kindness.
Pauline Mukami, a close friend of the deceased, shared photos from Elsie’s baby shower, describing it as one of their happiest moments together.
"This is devastating and heartbreaking. Sleep well, baby girl," she wrote.
During the candlelight vigil, several reggae lovers, including celebrities like Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu, comedian Churchill, and media personality Shix Kapienga, came to show support.
