Mining and Blue Economy Cabinet Secretary Hassan Joho has openly declared his support for President William Ruto.
Speaking in Ndau Island, Lamu County, on Thursday, February 27, Joho praised Ruto’s leadership, saying he was committed to uniting the country and ensuring development reaches all regions.
"I, Hassan Joho, will stand with William Ruto through the rainy and the sunny days. I say this because I see that he is working to help our people," Joho stated.
Joho emphasized that when a leader does good, it is only right to appreciate and support them.
He expressed confidence in Ruto’s efforts to implement development projects that benefit all Kenyans, regardless of political affiliations.
His remarks come at a time when former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is set to announce his next political move after his unsuccessful bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship.
Raila has been holding consultative meetings in different regions, including Homa Bay and Migori, to gather opinions from his supporters before making a final decision.
During one of his meetings, Raila assured his followers that he is preparing for a major political step ahead of the 2027 elections.
“I have been listening to my supporters, and together we will decide the best way forward. On Friday, I will make an important announcement,” he said.
There has been speculation that Raila might be considering working with Ruto’s government.
Reports suggest that some young people who attended a private meeting with Raila in Kisumu claimed he encouraged them to support a possible collaboration.
Additionally, when Raila returned from Addis Ababa on Monday, February 24, he was warmly received by President Ruto at the Mombasa State Lodge.
The two leaders, along with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, held discussions, further fueling speculation about a possible alliance.
While addressing the media, Raila dismissed claims that the Kenya Kwanza government spent KSh 13 billion on his AUC campaign, stating that such reports were false.
With Joho now firmly in Ruto’s camp and Raila’s awaited announcement, Kenya’s political landscape may be shifting.
The big question remains: Will Raila join forces with Ruto, or will he chart a different political path for 2027? Kenyans eagerly await his decision.
