A new twist has emerged in the mysterious case of the missing Wajir County Member of County Assembly (MCA), Yussuf Hussein Ahmed.
Activist Bob Njagi, who was himself abducted in Kitengela last August, has made startling claims, stating that he was held in the same location as the missing MCA.
In an emotional interview on Citizen TV’s JKLive, Njagi revealed that he saw Yussuf Hussein Ahmed alive during his time in captivity.
Njagi, who is the leader of the Free Kenya Movement, recounted how the MCA was brought to the detention facility on the night of Friday, September 13, 2024.
According to Njagi, the timing of the arrival was unusual as abductors typically do not bring detainees in at night.
This raised his curiosity, prompting him to observe the new arrival through a small opening in his cell.
He soon discovered that the man was of Somali origin, a detail that led him to suspect that it was the missing MCA.
Njagi explained that after being released 32 days later, he conducted his own investigations and found that a man had been abducted on the same night as the MCA, along Enterprise Road in Nairobi.
He further revealed that when he left the detention center, the MCA was still alive, though he later learned that the MCA’s body was found mutilated and dumped in Wajir.
The case of Yussuf Hussein Ahmed, who went missing in September 2024, has captured widespread attention.
The MCA had reportedly been abducted just days after complying with security summons in Wajir.
His family, along with residents of the region, has been searching for answers, unsure if their loved one is alive or dead.
A month after his disappearance, a body was discovered in Lake Yahud, but DNA tests ruled it out as being the MCA.
The ongoing uncertainty has led to public outcry and tension among Wajir’s local leaders. The 47 County Assemblies even threatened to adjourn sittings unless the whereabouts of the MCA were revealed.
