The family of Josephine Adhiambo, popularly known as Min Ombugu, is seeking financial support to pay her hospital bill and burial expenses.
The veteran comedian, famous for her performances opn Ramogi FM, passed away on January 19, 2025, after spending two weeks in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
According to her daughter, Awuor Ochol, the total hospital bill has reached KSh 1.5 million, an amount the family is struggling to settle.
They are appealing to well-wishers, friends, and fans to help them raise the funds.
Contributions can be sent through Paybill number 4065739, using the sender's name as the account number.
Min Ombugu’s body is currently preserved at Montezuma Monalisa Funeral Home in Mbagathi, Nairobi.
Her family has scheduled her burial for February 15, 2025, and they hope to give her a befitting send-off.
Min Ombugu was a well-known comedian on Ramogi FM, where she entertained listeners with humorous skits.
She gained popularity through shows like Lak Chogo (The Tooth Is a Bone) and Keth Nyingi Tiger Dendi (Tarnish Your Name and Build Your Body), which aired between 2007 and 2015.
Her performances alongside the late Bon Aggrey Okello, known as Wuon Ombugu or Nyakwar Kira, made her a household name.
The duo’s chemistry and storytelling made their shows fan favorites.
However, her career took a different turn after Okello passed away in 2015, leaving many of their fans longing for their unique brand of humor.
Min Ombugu’s case is not isolated. Many families in Kenya are facing similar struggles when it comes to settling hospital bills and burial expenses.
Recently, the family of Mathew Nyamlori, who succumbed to gastric cancer, appealed for financial assistance to raise KSh 1.5 million for his burial.
In another case, a grieving family in Ainamoi, Kericho County, requested help to offset a KSh 1.3 million hospital bill before laying their son to rest.
Distressed orphans in Embu also sought support after their brother’s body was detained at Kenyatta University Hospital due to a KSh 2.2 million bill.
