Former Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has sparked mixed reactions after sharing a cryptic message following Raila Odinga’s unsuccessful bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship.
His tweet has led to speculation about possible political changes in Kenya’s leadership.
On Sunday, February 16, Moses Kuria posted photos of National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed and Minority Whip Millie Odhiambo.
Alongside the images, he wrote, "Cometh the hour, cometh the man and woman."
Many Kenyans interpreted this as a sign that President William Ruto might be planning changes that could benefit Raila Odinga’s allies.
Some speculated that Junet Mohamed could be considered for the Majority Leader position, replacing Kimani Ichung’wah.
Kuria’s message came just a day after Raila lost the AUC chairmanship election, an outcome that has significantly impacted the country’s political landscape.
Kenyans took to social media to analyze Kuria’s message.
Some linked it to an upcoming shift in the National Assembly, while others saw it as an indication that National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula could be affected.
One user, Paul Mwangi, commented, “It will be messy; it will have casualties.”
Another, @mogire_jusper, asked, “Are you saying what I think you’re saying? A lot of crying ahead.”
Many suggested that Wetang’ula might be at risk, especially if President Ruto moves to bring Raila closer to his administration.
Meanwhile, Millie Odhiambo revealed that an Azimio la Umoja MP is ready to introduce an impeachment motion against Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
Kathiani MP Robert Mbui also criticized Wetang’ula, accusing him of favoring Kenya Kwanza MPs instead of remaining neutral.
He insisted that Parliament needs a Speaker who treats all members fairly.
With Moses Kuria’s message fueling speculation and Azimio’s plans to challenge Wetang’ula, Kenya’s political scene remains tense.
If Ruto makes major leadership changes in Parliament, it could signal a shift in alliances and power dynamics in the country.
