Speaking in Meru on Sunday, Gachagua declared that any attempt to oust Koome would not be tolerated, especially by the people of Meru.
“She is being fought because she refuses to be controlled. If you remove our Martha Koome, do not step foot in Meru!” he told the charged crowd.
“You already chased me away, and Mt. Kenya people stayed silent. Do you think they are cowards?”
Gachagua framed the alleged attack on Koome as part of a larger scheme to weaken the judiciary.
He accused Ruto of seeking unchecked power by silencing independent institutions.
“You fought me because I am a man. Now you are fighting Martha Koome, a woman.
Why don’t you fight your fellow men?” he challenged. “This government wants to rule by force, but we will not allow it.”
Gachagua did not spare elected leaders from Meru, whom he accused of abandoning their own in exchange for political favors.
“The Chief Justice is under attack, and the Senator is silent.
The ten MPs from Meru are also silent! What happened to the brave people of Meru? Where is the leadership of the land of the Mau Mau?” he asked.
The former DP vowed to mobilize the people should Koome be removed from office.
“This woman is being targeted. If she is removed, I will blow the whistle, and we will flood the streets! Are you ready?” he rallied the crowd, who responded with loud cheers.
Gachagua also used the moment to accuse Ruto of turning against the Mt. Kenya region after securing power.
“You used us to climb to the top, and now you are throwing us away like tissue paper. But God will not allow you to finish our people!” he declared.
