The dog injured a secondary school student and three women before disappearing.
The first attack happened around 6:10 p.m. near Kawanjara Market, where a 17-year-old Ena Secondary School student was on her way home.
Witnesses say the brown stray dog pounced on her suddenly, biting her right hand and thigh.
Nancy Wawira Kariuki, a trader at Kawanjara Market, described the chaos that followed. “The girl screamed, and people rushed to help.
She was bleeding and in pain,” she said. Good Samaritans quickly took her to Runyenjes Level 4 Hospital, but due to limited medical services, she was transferred to Hunter’s Medical Centre, where she received first aid.
Shortly after the first attack, two women from the Gikuuri area arrived at a nearby clinic with injuries from the same dog.
Medical staff administered anti-rabies injections to prevent infection. The two victims were advised to complete the full course of treatment to avoid complications.
A fourth victim, a woman who was working on her vegetable farm in Gikuuri, was also attacked.
Reports indicate that she first sought treatment at a local chemist before being transferred to another medical facility.
The series of attacks have left residents worried about their safety. Many people, including school-going children, are now afraid to move around freely.
A local boda boda rider expressed concern, saying he had seen the stray dogs and had to avoid them while riding.
“We need urgent action from the authorities. These dogs are a danger to us. Something must be done before more people are attacked,” he said.
Residents are urging veterinary officers and county officials to take immediate measures to control the stray dog population in Runyenjes.
They fear that if the aggressive dog is not captured, more attacks could happen.
The incident has raised questions about stray animals in the area and the need for responsible pet ownership.
Experts warn that rabies is a deadly disease that spreads through animal bites, and affected individuals must seek medical attention immediately.
Local authorities have yet to comment on the matter.
