Malava MP Moses Malulu Injendi will be laid to rest on Tuesday at his home in Lugusi Village, Malava.
His passing has left a huge gap in the political and social landscape of Kakamega County, as leaders, colleagues, and constituents remember his dedication to public service.
On Saturday, a requiem mass was held in his honor at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in South C, Nairobi.
The ceremony was attended by Members of Parliament, parliamentary staff, and other leaders who came to pay their last respects.
The Clerk of the National Assembly, Samuel Njoroge, led the mass and spoke highly of Injendi’s role beyond legislation.
“He was not just an MP but also a mentor and advisor to many of us in Parliament.
During difficult times, we would turn to him for counsel. His approach to national issues was always calm and peaceful,” Njoroge said.
Nambale MP Geoffrey Mulanya acknowledged Injendi’s role in infrastructure development, highlighting his efforts in pushing for the tarmacking of the Malava-Samitsi road, which is now nearing completion.
Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omanyo described him as an elder brother who helped guide new MPs.
Khwisero MP Christopher Aseka and Nyeri Town MP Maina Mathenge praised Injendi for his contributions to education and his humble nature.
“He was a man of great character, and I pray that God gives strength to his family,” Mathenge stated.
West Mugirango MP Steve Mogaka remembered Injendi as a mentor and a friend. “We trained at the gym together, and I still have a souvenir he gave me,” he said.
Budalang’i MP Raphael Wanjala described him as a close friend and confidant.
Matungu MP Oscar Nabulindo suggested that Malava residents consider electing a family member to complete Injendi’s term, acknowledging his commitment to the constituency.
Butere MP Tindi Mwale echoed these sentiments, recognizing Injendi’s support in the education sector.
Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula was represented by Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba, who spoke about Injendi’s dedication and integrity.
“He was a loyal leader and a strong supporter of the ANC party before its merger,” Milemba noted.
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Mulongo also paid tribute, recognizing Injendi’s generosity and dedication to justice and service.
