Opposition leader Raila Odinga has made it clear that he has not joined President William Ruto’s government.
Speaking on March 11, 2025, Raila explained that he has not crossed over to Ruto’s side, but rather, Ruto is the one who came to him.
“I have not gone to Ruto; he is the one who has come to me,” Raila said firmly.
He assured Kenyans that he remains committed to fighting for their rights and has not abandoned his role as an opposition leader.
Many Kenyans have been questioning Raila’s recent political moves, especially after he signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with President Ruto.
Some people believe the agreement is a good step toward unity, while others feel Raila has betrayed his opposition stance.
Despite the criticism, Raila dismissed claims that he has joined the government.
He explained that his discussions with Ruto are meant to address national issues and promote dialogue, not personal gain.
“My focus remains on good governance, social justice, and fair development for all Kenyans,” Raila assured.
However, his statement has sparked mixed reactions across the country.
Some Kenyans are disappointed, accusing him of being selfish and only thinking about his personal interests.
One citizen, Patrick Waihenya, did not hold back his frustration. He said, “An extremely selfish human being.
Supporting Ruto, who is murdering the young generation in his sight, is the worst decision that Rao has made in his entire career.
No more respect for him. Fight for your stomach and keep quiet.”
Another Kenyan, James Njeri, blamed Raila for past political violence in the country.
“Lord of impunity, poverty, and corruption. Violence, and many more.
By the way, you should tell us all those young and old who died from 2007/2008 to date. Who caused them to die if not you, Raila?” he asked.
On the other hand, some people defended Raila, arguing that he is still working for the people.
Jimmy, another Kenyan, commented, “So, we Kenyans don’t understand someone fighting for Kenyans and the one who is fighting for his stomach, right?”
