Kenyan YouTuber and comedian Oga Obinna has cleared the air on why he did not attend Bahati and Diana Marua’s recent high-profile event.
The celebrity couple had organized an all-white party to launch their new betting company, and many top personalities in the entertainment industry showed up.
However, Obinna, who had earlier asked Bahati why he had not received an invitation, ended up skipping the event.
Speaking about his absence, Obinna dismissed claims that he intentionally avoided the function due to any bad blood with the hosts.
He explained that his main challenge was finding the right outfit.
"I did not find a white outfit. I checked all my white clothes, and you people have seen them before.
Then I thought about it and said, ‘Eh, Kinuthia will be there, and people will take this fashion thing seriously.’
So, I asked Sharon to bring me something, but when it arrived, one side did not fit. It was a nice design, but unfortunately, it came too late."
Besides the wardrobe issue, Obinna revealed that he had been hanging out with Sauti Sol’s Bien and Tanzanian musician Harmonize before they all headed to Burna Boy’s concert.
He had hoped to finish early and pass by Bahati’s event, but time was not on his side.
"By the time I was leaving, Bien and Harmonize were heading to the concert, and I realized it was already too late.
I really wanted to attend because I had personally called Bahati to ask why I wasn’t invited, and he eventually invited me.
It would have been embarrassing not to show up, but unfortunately, I couldn’t make it in time."
Obinna also pointed out that he never moves alone, which made things more complicated.
"I usually move with a team of about seven people. So, it's not easy for me to just show up anywhere without proper planning.
I didn’t want to impose on Bahati’s event or even Burna Boy’s concert where Harmonize and Bien were going."
His explanation has received mixed reactions from fans. Some believe he was never officially invited, while others think his reasons are valid.
Earlier, Obinna had made headlines for criticizing churches that refused to give him a venue to shoot a gospel music video.
Many questioned his expectations, reminding him that he is still known as a secular artist despite releasing one gospel song.
