Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has strongly criticized the political alliance between President William Ruto and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Speaking in Sikhendu while distributing free seeds to small-scale farmers, Natembeya accused Raila of using his supporters for personal gain instead of standing up for the people.
"I have decided to speak on behalf of Kenyans because someone has to do it," Natembeya declared.
"The opposition is now weak, but I will not keep quiet. We have serious issues affecting Kenyans, and they must be addressed."
Natembeya did not hold back in his remarks against the Kenya Kwanza government.
He claimed that there was a plan to silence him, but he remained firm in his stance.
"I know these people will come for me," he said. "But I am not afraid. I will continue to speak out on important issues that affect ordinary citizens.
This is not about disrespecting the president, but about holding leaders accountable."
The governor expressed his dissatisfaction with the Ruto-Raila agreement, calling it a deal that only benefits a few individuals in power.
According to him, such agreements do not address the real challenges facing Kenyans.
"This broad-based government agreement is not about the people," he argued. "It is a business deal for a few individuals.
Kenyans are struggling, and these political handshakes do not bring real change."
Natembeya also accused Raila of repeatedly betraying his supporters.
He pointed out that the ODM leader had joined different governments over the years but had not brought meaningful change.
"Raila has done this before. Since the Moi regime, he has been shaking hands with those in power. But tell me, what has changed?"
Natembeya asked. "Now he has joined Ruto, and I can tell you, Kenyans’ problems will not be solved."
However, Natembeya made it clear that his criticism was not meant to undermine the presidency.
Instead, he insisted that he was fulfilling his responsibility as a leader.
"I respect the president. He knows that. But my role as a leader is to speak for the people," he clarified. "If the leadership in this country is failing, I will say it as it is."
