A woman from Siaya County has touched the hearts of many after revealing how she takes care of her unemployed husband.
The woman, who sells bananas for a living, recently met Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, while hawking near his home.
The lawmaker noticed her struggling with her bananas and decided to buy the entire basket. He sent her KSh 1,000 via M-Pesa, but something unusual happened.
The name that appeared on the transaction was not hers. Curious, Jalang’o asked her why the money was going to another person’s number.
“I have sent you the money, but the name appearing is not yours,” he inquired.
Without hesitation, the woman confidently explained that the number belonged to her husband, Fanuel Orono.
“Yes, it is my husband’s name. I bought him the phone, but I gave it to him as my dear love,” she responded.
The banana seller went on to explain that she is the sole provider for her family since her husband does not have a job.
“I do everything at home. I take care of my husband and our children because he does not have work,” she said.
Her words amazed many Kenyans who watched the video online.
Some praised her for being a loving and loyal wife, while others questioned whether her husband was equally committed to her.
The story sparked different reactions on social media. Some Kenyans admired her devotion.
“This is true love. For better or worse,” one person commented.
Another said, “She is the happiest woman in the world right now.”
However, others were surprised that she fully supported her husband financially.
“Are you sure he appreciates what you do for him?” one netizen asked.
Aside from her love story, Kenyans were also impressed by her ability to speak fluent English.
Some online users noted that she expressed herself clearly and confidently, proving that education is valuable regardless of one's job.
Now, many well-wishers are asking how they can assist the hardworking woman and her family.
Some have even suggested that Jalang’o should help her husband secure employment.
